'Women living life to the full' Reformed in 1991 Easington Village Women’s Institute Meetings every 3rd Monday of the month |
The ladies of Easington Village WI are lively, enthusiastic, active and full
of fun.
At present there are 28 members in the aged 50+, all with different interests
and needs but all receiving friendship, fun and social contact.
The WI is for ALL women of all ages and interests – it is non-sectarian and non-party political. There is something for everyone in the WI
The strength of the WI lies in the contribution of its members – the
more you put in – the more you get out. The WI is what you make of it.
With enthusiastic support from members almost any interest can be followed.
The monthly meetings start with the singing of the WI anthem Jerusalem; we
then make arrangements for activities and future events.
After tea and biscuits there is a speaker or demonstrator. There is always time
to talk and relax.
At our parties we either do our own catering or we hire a professional caterer
and we always have musical entertainment.
Tea and coffee are always provided at meetings and parties. Members are welcome to
bring their own drink (alcoholic or otherwise) to parties.
See President's Message for more information.
As a member of the Women’s Institute you are part of a large organisation
with many opportunities readily available to you.
You can be wholly involved in all activities or pick and choose what you want
to do. The decision is yours.
You will only know if the Institute is for you if you give it a try.
We are also part of the East Coast Group of Women’s Institutes
with Blackhall, Dalton-le-Dale, South Hetton and Murton Institutes.
Easington Village hosted the annual Group Meeting in June 2005.
Easington Village is part of the Link Group with South Hetton, Shadforth, and Castle Eden Institutes sending a delegate on a rota system to National Meetings.
Easington Village is part of the Durham County Federation of Women’s
Institute based at WI House, Barnfield Road, Spennymoor, Co Durham
DL16 6EB.
See web link.
Every month there is a County Newsletter to keep members informed of all events, classes and activities throughout the County Federation.
County Meetings are held twice a year and require a delegate and visitors from each Institute to attend to be kept ahead of the business and activities of the Federation and this again is an ideal opportunity to meet with ladies from other institutes to get ideas and help for your members.
Durham County Federation organise events and trips for its members to support
and have qualified teachers giving classes on a wide range of topics and crafts.
